The International SPA Association hosted its first-ever ISPA Regional Event in Mumbai, India on April 8-9, 2010 at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach.  The event was the first step in bringing the Indian spa community together to create a cohesive message of the value of spa.  With 94 of India's leading spa professionals in attendance, the event provided a forum for networking and discussing ways to move the Indian spa market forward.  As the voice of the global spa industry, ISPA provides key business tools, research and networking events to help spas and product companies grow.

"The spa industry is thriving in India and there are numerous opportunities to continue to expand and sustain the industry far into the future," said ISPA Vice Chairman and Sedona Resorts Director of Spa Development Deborah Waldvogel. "ISPA has the tools that they can immediately implement into their business to help sustain their growth."

The Indian spa community's commitment to ensuring guests consistently receive spa experiences of the highest quality and authenticity was obvious at the event. Spa industry leaders in the area also feel passionately that the spa profession should be recognized and respected as a career path.  ISPA President Lynne McNees added, "With the flourishing spa market in India, the need for resources to help sustain business is imperative; ISPA is a resource for spas throughout the world, no matter the size or experience level of the company."

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, ISPA is the leading authority on spa resources such as retail management, compensation, best practices and research on the state of the industry and global consumers.  More details on ISPA's resources are available online.

ISPA representatives who addressed attendees during the event included Jesper Hougaard, ISPA Board of Directors Member and Serena Spa Pvt. Ltd. managing director. Hougaard spoke on ways to sustain the growth of the industry, quality standards, financial performance and accreditation standards.  Former ISPA Chairman and Segerberg Spa Consulting, LLC President Jane Segerberg delivered a presentation on creating a pleasant and consistent guest experience.
